3D food printing is considered to be a futuristic technology to prepare our food (Witte, 2015). It is the multidisciplinary approach, combining knowledge of mechatronics, 3D industrial printing and specific food technology knowledge in the areas of ingredients, formulae, texture and structure. This is a new technology for creating food, enabling the production of new forms, new combinations of tastes and new textures. The growing demand for food and the limited supply of raw materials pose great challenges to the food industry. This requires the development of sustainable processes that make highly efficient use of the available raw materials or that can be used to produce high quality products from alternative sources.
